The Uttarakhand tunnel rescue operation has stopped; there are only 8 meters left for success from where workers are being held. According to sources familiar with the topography of the area, the drilling has been hampered by the collapse of the metal frame of the tunnel after the roof of the tunnel collapsed on Diwali and was buried under the debris.

Dr. Rohit Gondwal said that we are planning to provide them (trapped workers) with ludo and chess boards and playing cards to relieve stress,” said one of the psychiatrists at the rescue site. The operation has been pushed back, and it looks like it will take longer.

Stressing the need to maintain physical and emotional health, he said the overall well-being of all 41 employees was satisfactory. “He told us that he plays ‘thief-cop’, practices yoga daily, and exercises to relieve stress.” Regarding the mental health of the stranded workers, another medical expert told PTI that their morale should remain high and they should remain motivated.
